Introduction to Nazar’s Lab
Nazar’s doctoral laboratory is a single set of three PhD courses, which includes both managerial and scientific contribution. As for management, a new integrated system is established to direct and carefully monitor scientific activities of the research center by means of integration and synergy of scientific capacities in each research group.
In regard to scientific context, it attempts to come up with new realms in order to direct researchers’ focus toward new subjects every day. Attending the doctoral lab is possible in two ways:
Associate researcher in each of research projects
The main stages in assuming a role as PhD researcher are as follows
- Attending doctoral interview in Nazar’s Lab
A: Through a nationwideentrance examination: candidates are directed to Nazar Research Center for doctoral interview after obtaining a passing grade in the nationwide doctoral entrance examination held byNational Organization for Educational Testing.
B: Through providing a scientific file and applying for acceptance: in this method, upon Lab’s announcement, they can apply for the fieldagreed with a university abroad. The stages of acceptance proceed with file processing and interview by Nazar lab’s representativesand foreign associate university.
Candidates will proceed with their registration steps by specified instructions of the research center subsequent to obtaining their passing result from the doctoral interview. The organization supporting research project is held liable for financing PhD-course research costs.
- Passing theoretical units
According to the regulation of PhD courses laid down by the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology, they can request approved curriculum in every discipline for research-oriented doctoral courses based on a maximum 8-unit assumption.
Nazar’s doctoral lab has developed units necessary for preparing a successful doctoral dissertation and held the intended classes in the presence of its experienced professors so as to promote their research intuition. Researchers are required to pass 8 theoretical units at the first and second semester in their PhD course.
- Drafting initial proposal and determining supervisor
In the first three months of the first semester in their PhD course, researchers should develop their primary version of proposal within the framework of Lab’s curriculumand will deliver it to Lab’s management council. Researchers who are accepted through submitting scientific file can proceed with their proposal under supervisor’s supervision.
- Presenting proposal under supervisor’s observation
Having determined supervisor, PhD researcher can keep on completing his proposal under his observation, reaching presentation stage at the end of the first semester.
- Proposal presentation
Having completed the proposal, supervisorexpresses his approval to doctoral laboratory by holding presentation session at the suggestion of three expert professors as examiners. Processing the presented proposal, Lab’s scientific councilset out to determine committee and set up proposal presentation session.
- Passing skill development courses
Researchers are required to pass the 30 hour course which include software programs and skills relating to research and doctoral dissertation.
- Stage of dissertation preparation
Researchers are thus able to proceed with their stages of dissertation completion under the guidance of supervisor and consulting advisor which is regularly held at least once a month in the doctoral laboratory. In addition to this, in line with coordination between the work of supervisor and that of adviser throughout each term, a joint meeting is to be held in the presence of both professors.
At the end of each semester, researcher is required to present a report of his dissertation progress. The report is assessed and judged by the committee.
In each year, students should deliver the confirmation of a scientific-research article acceptance, a scientific-promotional article, and documents showing the issuance of six specialized applied critiques in the field of their professional work to the laboratory. In case of meeting essential scores, researcher can sign up for the course in the next year. Otherwise, the center has to bring the process of earning essential points in the previous stage to a halt out of desperation. The organization supporting project is liable for the cost of additional years.
- Defending doctoral dissertation
After the completion of doctoral thesis preparation and confirmation of supervisor and doctoral laboratory, researchers can defend their doctoral dissertation. The minimum time of dissertation preparation and writing isthree years from the first time of their registration.
- Extending duration of study
According to regulations of doctoral course, the duration of his study can be extended with the consent of supervisor and approval of lab’s scientific council up to a maximum of 5 years. The organization supporting project is liable for paying the cost of additional years.
