This department, which has 11 academic members, takes a unique approach to tourism-related topics. The original notion of tourism used to be primarily concerned with tourists’ migration and abandonment of their primary residence. New tourism concepts, on the other hand, highlight the potential contribution of this industry from a cultural and communication perspective. This has defined a new role for tourism in social progress and development; in this sense, there is an emphasis on its significant capability for social education and extending cultural linkages through generating inter-and intra-community contacts. This group views tourism as a system of knowledge based on the experience of being in and visiting a place.
